PRIDE Spring Cleanup, April 5-19

Volunteer to pick up litter around your community during the PRIDE Spring Cleanup. Cleanup events already scheduled in your area are listed below. To volunteer, call Breathitt County PRIDE Coordinator Calvin Saum II at 606.666.3818. You also can call him if you want to clean an area that is not on this list.

  • 4/19/2008 — 10 am - ? — Roadside cleanup at Freeman Fork — Organization: Citizens of Freeman Fork
  • 4/23/08 thru 4/26/08 — 8 am - 6 pm — Drop off at Hwy 15 South — Organization: Breathitt County Fiscal Court

County Solid Waste Office

Contact your Solid Waste Coordinator to request a list of licensed garbage haulers in your county or to report illegal dumping.

  • Upper Cumberland River Watershed Watch
PRIDE Environmental Education Grant Recipients in the County (2007 Grant Cycle)
Grant recipients might need help with their environmental education projects from community members. Contact the grant recipient to inquire about volunteer opportunities.
  • Highland-Turner Elementary: $4,250 to construct outdoor classroom
  • Mt. Carmel Elementary School: $4,575 to enhance outdoor classroom
  • Rousseau Elementary: $4,500 to construct outdoor classroom
