PRIDE Spring Cleanup, April 5-19

Volunteer to pick up litter around your community during the PRIDE Spring Cleanup. Cleanup events already scheduled in your area are listed below. To volunteer for one of these events or schedule your own, call your local PRIDE Coordinator.

  • 4/14/08 thru 4/19/08 — 7:30 am - 3 pm — Free disposal at landfill — Organization: Laurel County Fiscal Court
  • 4/19/2008 — 8 am - 2 pm — Laurel River Lake Cleanup (check-in at spillway)
  • 5/3/2008 — 8 am - 2 pm — Wood Creek Lake Cleanup

School Cleanup Activities
PRIDE encourages schools to organize cleanup events for their students. Due to spring break or testing schedules, these events may be held outside the Spring Cleanup period. These events are not open to the public, but they are listed here to recognize the schools' PRIDE.

  • 5/8/2008 — 8 am - 3 pm — Campus Eleanup at Cold Hill Elementary

County Solid Waste Coordinator

Contact your Solid Waste Coordinator to request a list of licensed garbage haulers in your county or to report illegal dumping.

Local Watershed Watch Programs

For information about becoming a Watershed Watch volunteer, call 800.928.0045 and ask for extension 473, or visit the program’s Web site at www.kywater.org/watch.

PRIDE Environmental Education Grant Recipients in the County (2007 Grant Cycle)
Grant recipients might need help with their environmental education projects from community members. Contact the grant recipient to inquire about volunteer opportunities.

  • North Laurel Middle School: $3,630 to enhance outdoor classroom
