Volunteer to pick up litter around your community during the PRIDE Spring Cleanup. Cleanup events already scheduled in your area are listed below. To volunteer, call McCreary County PRIDE Coordinator Linda Babb at 606.376.2556. You also can call her if you want to clean an area that is not on this list.

  • 4/5/2008 — 10 am - 3:30 pm — Roadside cleanup at Hwy. 1470 — Organization: Murphy Ridge Crew
  • 4/12/2008 — 10 am - 12:30 pm — Sandhill Camp at Murphy Ride — Organization: Girl Scouts
  • 4/18/2008 — 9 am 0 11 am — Roadside cleanup at Historic Stearns — Organization: OVC

School Cleanup Activities
PRIDE encourages schools to organize cleanup events for their students. Due to spring break or testing schedules, these events may be held outside the Spring Cleanup period. These events are not open to the public, but they are listed here to recognize the schools' PRIDE.

Local Watershed Watch Programs

For information about becoming a Watershed Watch volunteer, call 800.928.0045 and ask for extension 473, or visit the program’s Web site at www.kywater.org/watch.

  • Upper Cumberland River Watershed Watch
PRIDE Environmental Education Grant Recipients in the County (2007 Grant Cycle)
Grant recipients might need help with their environmental education projects from community members. Contact the grant recipient to inquire about volunteer opportunities.
  • Pine Knot Primary School: $5,000 to construct greenhouse
  • Pine Knot Intermediate School: $3,000 to construct outdoor classroom
  • McCreary County Extension Service: $2,775 to host environmental camp
