Scout Programs

Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in central, eastern and southern Kentucky can show off their PRIDE. Scouts can earn a PRIDE Environmental Action patch for their efforts to improve the environment.

The patches are the result of PRIDE’s new partnership with Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. and Boy Scouts of America. Together, the organizations intend to promote environmental education through hands-on learning experiences.

The patches are available in the counties served by Eastern Kentucky PRIDE and Bluegrass PRIDE.

To earn the PRIDE patch a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturer or adult scout must perform at least four hours of community service related to conservation. Examples of worthy projects include lake cleanups, trail maintenance and tree planting.

To earn the PRIDE patch a Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior or Adult Girl Scout must perform at least four hours of community service related to conservation. An alternative for Girl Scout troops is to use a kit prepared by PRIDE to perform environmental activities at a meeting or camping event.

Questions about the patches should be directed to the Girl Scout Wilderness Road Council at (800) 475-2621 or the Blue Grass Council of the Boy Scouts of America at (859) 231-7811
