Lisa Davis Congratulations to Lisa Davis, the PRIDE Volunteer of the Month for May. She is a shining example of the volunteers making a difference in their communities with PRIDE.

St. Camillus Academy's “Be Excited About the Environment” Mentoring Program
Abel Abraham, a Montessori student, posed with his PRIDE Club mentor, 6th-grader Lyndsey Noland. After reading From a Seed to a Plant, which illustrated how plants grow from different seeds, they decorated a pot and planted seeds in it.PRIDE Club members in 4th-8th grades read environmental books to younger students. The mentors wore costumes and led activities that brought the books to life.

PRIDE Education Grants: Applications due May 16
J. WaterfordApply by May 16 for the 2008 Environmental Education Grant Program, which awards up to $5,000 to schools, nonformal educators and nonprofits for hands-on learning projects. To learn more and print an application, click here.

Science Hill celebrates sewer improvements
Congressman Hal Rogers, Mayor Bill Dick Students and citizens joined elected officials to celebrate as the City of Science Hill finished extending sewer lines to 42 residential and commercial customers and prepared to reach 10 more homes.

Eastern Kentucky PRIDE is a nonprofit organization funded by federal grants to encourage and assist citizens, local governments, schools and others in 38 counties of southern and eastern Kentucky to:
1. Improve water quality in the region.
2. Clean up illegal trash dumps and other solid waste problems.
3. Promote environmental awareness and education.
