Edmonton Elementary students Brilyn Garrett and Darby Acree stack newspapers collected in the school's community-wide recycling program Nearly 30,000 students will gain hands-on experience in good stewardship practices during the school year, thanks to $235,760 an PRIDE Environmental Education Grants.

Eastern Kentucky PRIDE is a nonprofit organization funded by federal grants to encourage and assist citizens, local governments, schools and others in 38 counties of southern and eastern Kentucky to:
1. Improve water quality in the region.
2. Clean up illegal trash dumps and other solid waste problems.
3. Promote environmental awareness and education.
