Spring Cleanup Month starts at Cumberland Falls
Cumberland Falls355 volunteers joined the excitement of the PRIDE Spring Cleanup Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, April 4, at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park.

While enjoying a sunny day in one of the state's most scenic areas, volunteers picked up 612 bags of trash along Highway 90 near the park. All volunteers received a free T-shirt, lunch, redbud seedlings and a chance at door prizes.

For the second year in a row, McCreary County won the Trash Cup with a total of 153 volunteers compared to Whitley County's 125 volunteers. McCreary County PRIDE Coordinator Linda Babb accepted the trophy.

The Beulah Christian Academy won the plaque for the School Group with the Most Volunteers. The school won a free field trip to Cumberland Falls State Resort Park.

The Pine Knot Job Corps won the plaque for the McCreary County Community Group with the Most Volunteers. For Whitley County, the plaque went to Corbin Wal-Mart.
